Welcome
Welcome to the Student Legal Advocacy Centre (SLAC), your trusted resource for free legal assistance tailored specifically to students' needs.
Our mission is clear: to empower students by providing them with the legal resources they need to navigate complex issues. We believe that every student deserves access to justice, regardless of their financial situation or background. Our goal is to level the playing field and ensure that all University of Regina students have support in challenging situations.
A modern mission
Dedicated student led service centre
As a non-profit organization and an official Pro Bono Saskatchewan legal service, we are dedicated to providing accessible legal support to students facing various challenges.
A student-led and founded initiative, like RPIRG, the Women’s Centre and UR Pride, Regina SLAC is a centre that directly serves students and operates independently of the URSU. We are funded by internal contributions from the campus community in addition to grants ensuring our continued ability to support students in need.
What We Do
Our team of experienced lawyers offers a wide range of services to address the diverse needs of students. From tenancy issues to employment conflicts and discrimination cases, we are here to help. We provide confidential consultations, legal advice, representation, and advocacy, all FREE OF CHARGE.
Our Values
We are a team of devoted professionals who understand the unique challenges that students face navigating the Canadian legal system.
As a team, we uphold the following principles:
Expertise: Our lawyers specialize in student-related legal matters and have the knowledge and experience to provide effective guidance and representation.
Accessibility: As a non-profit organization, we are committed to providing free legal assistance to all students, regardless of their financial circumstances. We work closely but independently from the University of Regina Students’ Union and partner with them to adapt to student needs.
Empowerment: We believe in empowering students not only through legal support but also by providing valuable learning, employment, and internship opportunities. We equip students with the knowledge, for example through information sessions, and resources they need to advocate for themselves effectively.
Pro Bono Work: As an official pro bono SK organization, we are part of a network of legal professionals dedicated to providing free legal services to those in need.
Confidentiality: We understand the importance of privacy when it comes to legal matters. Rest assured that all consultations and communications with our team are kept strictly confidential.
Student Founded and Driven: SLAC is a student-led initiative, founded and driven by a student board. This student-centric approach ensures that our services are tailored and re-evaluated regularly to meet the specific needs of students, making SLAC a trusted ally in navigating legal complexities during your academic journey.
